Embracing Balance: The Interconnection of Strengths and Weaknesses

August 16, 2025

Everything in this world is balancing to each other- which creates harmony. Strengths and weaknesses are interconnected in each person. Embrace both weaknesses and strengths to cultivate a sense of wholeness.

This is one of the core concepts of TRU Color Methodology. It emphasizes the importance of holistic approach to life – it is an evolving, continuing process.

Growth is not about “fixing” weaknesses or only leaning on strengths, it’s about embracing both as part of an evolving, continuing process of becoming.

Balance Through Different Lenses

The idea of balance has long been recognized across philosophies and sciences:

Sigmund Freud believed psychological distress came from imbalance between the id (instincts), ego (reality), and superego (morality). A healthy mind requires harmony among all three.

Yin and Yang, represent complementary and interconnected forces or principles that are present in all aspects of the universe, including nature, society, and the human mind.

An expression for Balance:

A visualization or expression of this concept is found in the movie Inside Out. The Pixar film, illustrates this beautifully. Joy initially tries to push sadness aside, believing happiness is the only “right” emotion. But in the end, Joy learns that sadness is not her opposite but her partner. Together, they create true connection and healing.

The phrase “everything is not just black or white” is commonly used to convey the idea that situations, issues, or concepts are often more complex than they appear at first glance.

Balance/Harmony in TRU Color Methodology:

The TRU Color Methodology echoes these truths. Our strengths and weaknesses are used to create a complete and authentic self of who we are. To lead ourselves and others effectively, we must honor every part of us- our strengths as well as weaknesses.
