Stories which Formed core of a leader
These are some of the personal stories, and expressions(or paintings) those shaped my journey, my voice, and the creation of Core of a leader & the TRU Color Methodology. These stories are written from a place of reflection. Each of those painting has a very deep meaning. Every experience led me to create Core of a Leader and to help others.
I used to think leadership meant working harder, doing more, speaking up even when it was risky – and I did all of that. But over the years, life taught me something deeper: real leadership begins when we reconnect with our core.
I believe:
🔹 Everyone has a leader inside them.
🔹 We don’t need to be fixed – we need to be seen, supported, and reconnected to our truth.
🔹 When we lead from the core, we create fulfillment, not just results.
To deepen this mission, I became a coach. I now offer workshops, coaching, and programs rooted in TRU Color methodology.
If you’re ready to reconnect with your core, I’m here for you.
And- thanks for reading more about me.

The Core

From Pain to Purpose
I gave my heart and honest efforts to my work. I was confident, capable, and courageous to speak up – to managers or anyone, when something didn’t feel right. I poured myself into my role. But during one of the most vulnerable times in a woman’s life -after having a baby – I was denied a permanent job I applied for which was approved by hiring manager. And then, I was laid off from my project role.
When I asked the Chief of Staff directly, “Was it because I had a baby? Or because I’m from India?”- there was no answer. The silence was telling. But even then, I knew I didn’t want to stay in bitterness. I wanted to transform that pain into something meaningful.
So I started a web startup to build better workplaces. From scratch, I created a functioning website. But I still had a baby in my arms, and when an intern casually told me he couldn’t work with someone who had a crying baby, something broke in me. The fire was still there, but the reality of juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship hit hard. I had to pause.
Over time, I returned to my career, grew, healed, and gathered deeper insights. And I have many other similar stories too. But now – I started Core of a Leader. A continuation of that early fire. This time, it is about building better workplaces as well as to help people reconnect with their own core. Because I had finally done that myself.
The TRU Color methodology didn’t just emerge as a coaching tool. It was born from lived experience, truth-telling, reflection, inner strength, and rising above. It reflects everything I’ve learned: how to honor your truth, even when it’s hard. How to find our voice again. How to lead, not by title, but from our core.
Choosing the World

The Grit Behind the Method
“Grit is a combination of perseverance and passion for long-term goals.”
That definition from Angela Duckworth has lived in my bones.
After graduating with a master’s in computers in India, I moved to the USA since I married the love of my life, without considering the barriers of culture, color, or race. With knowing five languages, my different accent is something I accepted. I never thought much about it until a workplace bullying incident shook me. A coworker tried to control even who I should talk to. When I finally stood up for myself and calmly suggested we talk to a manager if needed, I thought we had resolved it.
Instead, it escalated behind closed doors with workplace politics, especially with this coworker who was there for many years. Without explanation, I was let go. I found out that the reason they put was performance issues. Now I know how all that internal workplace politics works, but at that time I didn’t know that.
I was devastated. As an immigrant, that experience wasn’t just about losing a job – it struck at my identity. Is it because of my accent or my foreign degree that they thought that? I wanted to prove something. To myself. That I am worthy, talented, and I can do anything no matter what.
The work was related to law and regulations. So, when the University of Washington School of Law opened a brand-new Master of Jurisprudence program, I applied. Not because it was easy – but because it was hard. While studying, I was raising two kids, commuting five hours a day, and living with severe fibroids and pain, which eventually required surgery. Out of the 30 students who started, only five of us graduated that year. I was one of them—with a 3.6 GPA.
Those experiences taught me: nothing is impossible if we put our heart into something. Everyone has the capability to do anything if they are given the opportunity. Work titles don’t define a person or their worthiness. A manager title won’t make a person – a Leader.
And that’s what Core of a Leader stands for: Everyone has a leader in them – in their core.
This grit is behind everything including TRU Color Methodology. ‘Rising Above’ cannot be done without perseverance and commitment. And that is what leads to our goal.
I now help people do the same, finding their core to become the leader they are.
Because each one of you matters. Your voice, your story, your presence- they matter. You don’t have to be perfect to be a leader – you just try and stay on with perseverance.
‘TRU Color Methodology’

When Helping One Woman Changed Everything
I always tried to stand up for people who didn’t have a voice. And I always thought problem solving can be done with solutions and my brilliant ideas. :)
After finishing my law degree, I met her- a homeless immigrant woman from India, living in her car for years. She had been divorced and deserted, and maybe her mental health affected her staying in that car.
I tried everything. I called shelters, explored legal options, reached out to family, gave suggestions, offered solutions. For years, I showed up trying to fix what I couldn’t fully control. I pushed with a heart full of care. But nothing changed.
Seven years passed.
She stayed in that car, no matter how hard I tried to pull her out. After 7 years in that car, one day she lost that car too.
Still nothing convinced her. One day, worn down and heartbroken, I finally said, “When you decide to go back, let me know. I’ll come and help.” I cannot do it on my own any more.
That was a turning point for me.
Eventually, she said those long-awaited words: “I want to go home.” And only then was I able to help her. We got her back to her family in 2022. The relief we felt is beyond words.
Not long after, during the quiet, uncertain days of the pandemic, I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in 20 years, and what emerged on the canvas was a visual expression of everything I lived, felt, and witnessed. I called it “The Core.”
It gave a calling and clarity to give others, building on 20+ years of work experience and the raw wisdom life gifted me. To deepen that calling, I learned coaching methods. I researched more about the psychology and brain science behind coaching and therapy. And that’s when it clicked. I understood the essence of Rogerian theory which is the heart of therapy and coaching. Change begins with unconditional positive regard, deep listening, and honoring the autonomy of the other person. That’s when I truly grasped the power of coaching.
That learning changed everything I believed about helping others. It wasn’t about doing or fixing. It was about being present, letting go, and honoring the free will of people. The experience of helping that homeless woman taught me that transformation begins not with advice, but with unconditional presence. And so here it is- Core of a Leader!
And, the first step in TRU Color methodology is:
Be Truthful.
Not to impress others. Not to perform. But to be radically honest – with yourself.
True Colors

My True Colors
I went through hardships
Those made me feel humiliated and hurt
Made me think I am small and nothing.
I went through joys
Those made me feel warm and happy
Made me think I am something.
When look deeper into everything and my core
I found my true colors
And I found harmony with joys and sorrows
Which make me who I am
No matter where I am, or what I am.
