An Interview with Elisa:

Elisa is an HR professional with many years of work experience. She and I got acquainted with Empower work- a nonprofit, which provides support and coaching to people who have workplace issues. Seeing my effective and compassionate work where I helped a person who was very distressed, Lisa gave me a moment of appreciation.

“That was incredible! Thanks for the amazing modeling. I’m just completely and utterly mind blown by your work”.

I thanked her, and later, she became my client. This is an excerpt from our conversation.

Coach, Daisy: You've gone through other leadership training and personality assessments. What made this process feel so different?

Elisa, Client:
I’m so glad you asked. It is so special and different than anything I’ve experienced.   The depth is unique. All the other trainings stay at a surface level, but you asked me to reflect upon the entire arc of my life, chapter by chapter. No training has ever done that. It was profound because, by looking back at the whole picture, I was able to see patterns in a way I couldn’t see before.

Coach Daisy: You mentioned the blend of reflection, art, and expression seemed to resonate with you. Can you talk more about that?

Elisa, Client:
That’s what I loved about it- you take real life and you make it into art. It’s very artful. We had simple diagrams and we worked with colors. You took my real-life experiences, and you made it into artful experience with your work. It’s very touching. It’s so effective. That’s your coaching. It’s not curriculum-focused; it’s incredibly human and authentic.  I’ve never experienced anything like it. Never.

Coach Daisy: I believe in getting to the root cause quickly and effectively. From your perspective, how did this approach compare in terms of results and time?

Elisa, Client:
I’ve been through all of these different leadership trainings and out of everything that I have tried, yours has been the most effective in the shortest amount of time. You don’t mess around. It’s concise, and it gets to the deep level immediately. The analogy, paintings, videos or stories that we had in conversation, or you sent for reflection-  it’s just five minutes or so, but it reinforces the whole conversation that we had and puts it all together. It just really touches me and reaches my heart.

Coach Daisy: The process is designed to bring out your own authentic truth. Did you feel this was a barrier, or did it help you grow?

Elisa, Client:
There’s no way I could have gotten this insight without you. The insight was in me, but you knew how to pull it out. It forces you to invest time in yourself. As a busy executive and a mom, having that accountability to do the work, to invest that time, was a gift. It saved me time and money and advanced my life so much with insights I couldn’t achieve on my own.

Coach Daisy: If you were speaking to another professional who is considering working with me, what would you tell them about the experience?

Elisa, Client: What you do is special. It is so honest. It’s just so beautiful. I was thinking about as I was going through the exercises, I was just like “my gosh, I think Daisy is a genius”.  It’s beyond words. Everything else I’ve experienced is more like a corporate curriculum; yours is so human.  What you did for me is so good to experience it.

You’re are that partner where I’m accountable and I want to invest this time in myself. Usually, I have a thousand other things I could be doing. We neglect ourselves because there’s so many other people, we got to take care of. But I want to be accountable to you and I’m like- Okay, I’m going to do this. I’m going to show up. I’m going to invest in myself. I’m like, wow, this is such a gift that I get to invest in myself. It was such a good experience, Daisy. You show up in your true colors, and that’s what this practice is all about – authenticity. My advice to others is that it’s so good, you just have to experience it- Just taste the pie, take a piece for yourself. It’s effective, it’s beautiful, and it’s transformative.
